The National Christopher Columbus Association, together with Italian-American organizations from the Washington, DC area, will be hosting a ceremony  at the Columbus Memorial Statue in front of Union Station in Washington, DC on Monday, October 12, 2015. The United States Marine Band will begin the program at
10:45 am with patriotic marches – always a crowd favorite. We will welcome representatives of the Embassies of Italy, Spain, and the Bahamas. We will hear the Columbus Day proclamations from the President of the United States and the Mayor of the District of Columbia. Our honored guest will be the winner of the Columbus Day Essay contest sponsored by the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution and awarded by the National Italian American Foundation.

The United States Joint Armed Forces Honor Guard will present the colors and the Knights of Columbus will add to the pageantry with the historical flags of the United States. We will do all this to honor Christopher Columbus – the Great Discover – for his journey that changed the world 523 years ago as our participating organizations present wreaths in memory of his achievements.
