We’re looking forward to trying out a new Italian restaurant in Foggy Bottom opened by Al Tiramisu Owner-Chef Luigi Diotaiuti. Aperto takes over the space formerly occupied by Primi Piatti, which closed after 30 years. In Luigi’s words, “‘Aperto’ is named after the Italian word for ‘open’. Featuring an open kitchen, a comfortable atmosphere and honest Italian cuisine, we will offer the freshest flavors and traditional charm of the farm to table concept with an Italian accent. Aperto’s culinary philosophy combines my vision of providing patrons with the best from the past, present, and future of Italian cuisine while incorporating as many local, organic, free-range, and sustainably farmed products as possible. “
