Maryland State Senator Rob Garagiola, was the guest speaker at the April meeting of the Lido Civic Club. A native of Michigan, Garagiola has been a Maryland state senator since 2002. Before that, he was a senior legislative aide to Congressman Frank Pallone.
In the Maryland State Senate, Garagiola has led the effort to expand healthcare access and lower costs. Recognizing his leadership on healthcare, the Maryland College of Emergency Physicians named him Legislator of the Year. He has also been a strong advocate for creating green energy jobs and developing a renewable energy industry in Maryland.
Garagiola’s grandfather’s family was from the Milan area, while his grandmother’s relatives have their rioots in Palermo, Sicily.
