Poverty Rises in the Nation’s Capital

| October 25, 2012

According to the last newsletter that we received from SOME (So Other Might Eat), the 2011 U.S. Census Bureau data indicated that there are 617,00 people living in Washington, D.C.  Unfortunately, 20% of our nation’s capital lives in poverty (123,000), 30% of which are children. Unbelievable!!

So far this year, SOME has served 168,748 nutritional meals, and has provided 91 families with safe, affordable housing. Donations to SOME can be designated in the United Way drive as #8189 and in the CFC drive as #74405.
