Loverro, whose paternal grandparents emigrated from Bari, Italy, grew up in Brooklyn and later moved to Pennsylvania. He began his journalism career in 1977 and worked as a newspaper reporter for a number of newspapers. For eight years he was a news editor and reporter for The Baltimore Sun. In 1992, Loverro became a sports writer for the Washington Times, where he remained until 2009.
Loverro is currently co-host of “The Sports Fix,” on ESPN 980 radio aired in Washington from noon to 2:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. His sports column is published by the Washington Examiner.
Loverro is also the author of 11 sports books, the favorite of which, he says, is Washington Redskins: The Authorized History, which he wrote in 1996.
