Fr. Sergio dall’Agnese was welcomed as the new pastor of Holy Rosary Church at a mass celebrated on Sunday, September 5.  The Scalabrinian Provincial Superior, Fr. Angelo Plodari, had  earlier presented Fr. Sergio  to his Eminence the Archbishop of Washington, as the new Pastor of Holy Rosary.

Fr. Sergio Dall’Agnese is not new to the Washington DC Metropolitan area having served in Riverdale Park, MD from 2005 to 2014.

He was born in Guapore, RS, Brazil, on June 28, 1949. He was sent to complete his theological studies in North America {Toronto, ON, Canada and Staten Island, NY).

He was ordained in Hato Rey, Puerto Rico, on June 23, 1979. Assigned to the Province of St. Charles B., he completed his first assignment in Puerto Rico and in 1980 was assigned to St. Augustine parish in the Archdiocese of Newark, NJ until 1982. He then worked with Portuguese speaking migrants in Perth Amboy, NJ, in the diocese of Metuchen, NJ, before being assigned to St. Anthony parish in Toronto, Canada until 1996.

From 1996 to 1999 he worked in the first Scalabrinian Brazilian Apostolate Mission (Our Lady Aparecida in Hollywood, FL) in the Archdiocese of Miami.

From 1999 to 2005 he was Provincial Superior and served repeatedly as Provincial Treasurer.

In 2005 he was appointed to the Archdiocese of Washington as Pastor of Our Lady of Fatima in Silver Spring, MD and St. Bernard of Clairvaux in Riverdale Park, MD, until 2014.

His latest assignment has been Pastor et’ St. Joseph. Patron Universal Church in Brooklyn NY.

While serving as pastor of Holy Rosary Parish, Fr. Sergio will continue as the Representative of SIMN (Scalabrini International Migration Network) of the Province of St. Charles.
